Gather at the Table

one of the most heartbreaking things in my adult life is the difficulty feeding anyone outside of my household.

I watch my Brazilian Neighbors spend the day, at the table every Sunday just like we did growing up. Our Jewish Grandparents from Brighton Beach brought Honey cake and potato knishes. My Italian step father bought the bialies and lox bagels and whitefish. My mom made lasagna and sometimes lamb.

Recently I invited a family and I made homemade lasagna home made sauce with a rainbow of vegetables. It was as if I had three heads. "No sausage?" Sadly they do not understand what it means to be a guest.

I have a different problem...I get so nervous and excited I can't eat.

Breaking bread, making homemade sushi, gingerbread men, tostadas, waffles pancakes...anything to be friendly at the table.

What is YOUR EXPERIENCE?
