The family on my walk have two young boys age 7 and 9. In April they found a hatch-ling robin in their hammock. It was bald pink and hairless. They brought it to their dad, "what's this?"
"A baby bird, must've fallen out of his nest."
The father read up on what to feed it and using an eye dropper and pureed dog food they nursed the baby bird to full size. They trained him to fly on their shoulders and eventually he could fly out of the house. They kept their back door open with a cloth screen and the bird knew how to get back in and he returned each day. He even visited the neighbors and flew onto their shoulders. Then one day he took off and never came back.
