Back then I thought I was remaking the world, tearing down the old and erecting something new in its place. That unwavering self-belief was electric. There was a terrifying vitality that poured out of me, that beautifully dynamic and deluded incandescent force of youth. I truly believed I was reinventing everything.
Over time, that fiery intensity ebbed away, and I realised that the past wasn't something to discard but to respect. I began to approach the creative process with greater humility, recognising that although we draw on the wisdom of the ages, these enduring themes could be filtered through our own individual nature, allowing us to create something distinct, even if not entirely new.
