Spread the Love of Music

WOONSOCKET — When rock drummer Domenic A. Izzi Jr. was killed by a drunk driver in 2012, his parents were crushed, but they refused to let him die in vain.

The Smithfield couple launched a charitable foundation in his name dedicated to enriching the lives of young people through music, by providing them with musical instruments.

The Domenic A. Izzi Jr. Foundation for Young Aspiring Musicians has since donated musical instruments to students in five school districts in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. But the foundation is poised to make its most generous donation yet next week when it turns over nearly two dozen musical instruments to deserving students from Woonsocket Middle School.

“This is what we’re all about,” said Izzi’s father, Domenic A. Izzi. “We’re trying to spread the love of music and what better way to do that than by giving young people a musical instrument.”
