I woke up and shoveled the new 3 inches and cleaned off the 15 inches of snow accumulated on top of both cars. I used the soft push broom we got at Adler's on Wickenden St, many years ago. I shoveled around the cars. We need to get dog food today! My new neighbor James was clearing out the fire hydrant. I thanked him and we had a chat. "There's a new guy running the highway department and he's trying to be a hero and save money," he said.
"Oh really? So that's why it's a mess," I said. "Usually the streets are sparkling during and right after a storm. I have not heard any plows and the streets look like unbaked pie crust."
"Yeah, they do," he said, laughing. "Five people got stuck on the hill and I bailed them out last night."
"I am surprised since this is a major artery for police and fire dept."
