"I use to beg my mom to make these for me when I was growing up. Now I make them for my 2 daughters and they absolutely love them!"
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup white sugar
3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1 cup milk
2 eggs
4 tablespoons butter, melted
1 tablespoon butter, softened
3/4 cup confectioners' sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon milk
LISSALU: I made changes... but with my changes I would rate it a 5!! The changes I made were 2 tsp baking powder, 1/2 cup cocoa powder, 1/2 tsp baking soda, 1 tsp vanilla and half a bag of chocolate chips. So yummy! I made this in my Belgian waffle maker and they turned our wonderful! I served this with Easy Whipped Cream from this site. I made the leftovers and froze them. I think I will try them for dessert with ice cream next!
mominml: Kids loved, loved, loved these. I would consider these more of a dessert rather than breakfast, but let the kids pick what they wanted today. I added in some mini chocolate chips and 2 of my kids had these with peanut butter and called them Reese's waffles. Probably won't be something I will make them very often, but the recipe is very good.

Preheat waffle iron. In a large mixing bowl, stir together flour, baking powder, salt, sugar and cocoa. Stir in milk, eggs and butter until mixture is smooth.
To make hard sauce: stir together softened butter, confectioners' sugar, vanilla extract and milk. Sauce should be fairly stiff.
Spray preheated waffle iron with non-stick cooking spray. Pour mix onto hot waffle iron. Cook until golden brown. Serve hot with hard sauce.
