They're tearing up our street. The police are here for the day and
the jackhammers and saws are going wild. I went out to see if it was my
favorite retired cop Sgt Daniel Pion conducting traffic but nope it's Detective David Wahl. I might offer him a coffee and homemade pumpkin cake.
My neighbor has
blocked my garage so Monday is off to a fun start. I'm going out to
walk with my dog to let off some steam. I kicked some rat jerky off the sidewalk before Romeo got it! Whew!! I found a beautiful maroon scarf in the dirt behind the CVS offices. I am washing it now.
I eventually walked up and knocked on the neighbor's door and identified myself as Emily from next door and when the woman opened the door a crack, obviously terrified, I asked her if they would PLEASE move their vehicle from the front of my garage.
Time passed, and nothing happened.
Later in the day when I saw the woman outside at their other car, a red Volvo wagon, I just asked her again: "Excuse me, would you move the vehicle?"
"He's getting a tow truck!"
This was hours ago.
How come I don't believe her?
"Don't drive things to a point" keeps running through my head. I tell myself to remember these are good problems compared to homicides, crack houses, stabbings, overdoses, child abandonment, arson, swat teams, and sexual assault. All of which we have seen in the many decades of life in our exciting urban neighborhood here on planet Earth.
That said, I have also seen true love and community spirit unlike any place I've ever lived.
